Few nations in the world rouse such worldwide mystique and awe as Egypt. An ancient country, Egypt has been a unified state for 5,000 years. While most other nations were still hunting and gathering and learning to build huts, Ancient Egypt perfected one of the most colossal structures of all time – the Pyramids of Giza – and rose out of the constant passage of time by establishing something truly amazing. There’s no other place in the world that holds more mystery than the country of Egypt. The smell of the mysticism of the ancient Egyptians still lingers over the place. This ancient atmosphere seems to fill its every nook and cranny with secrets yet untold.

1-Pyramids of Giza : And perhaps there is nothing more mysterious, and more worthy of seeing in Egypt than the esteemed Great Pyramids of Giza. These are the pyramids of Khufu, Kafhre, and Menkaura. These perfectly shaped structures leaves everyone in awe and in wonder about how exactly they were made, considering that the ancient Egyptians had no advanced technology to work with.

2-Sphinx : And of course, if you’re going to go to the Great Pyramids, then you might as well go to the Sphinx. This is one of the most mysterious structures in Egypt. Even now, archeologists are still arguing about its origin and its purpose, making it the subject of the famous phrase, “the Riddle of the Sphinx.”

3-Abu Simbel : Most temples of antiquity are eventually physically altered, defiled or destroyed. This was not the fate of Abu Simbel because encroaching sands soon buried its lower half. It lay forgotten for millennia. Abu Simbel wasn’t rediscovered and exposed until about 200 years ago. Before little more of two years BBC carried out research between TV spectators for the 50 places which every must see while is alive. Abu Simbel was one of this places. It is set of two temples near the border of Egypt with Sudan. The larger one is Ra and Amun. The smaller temple is dedicated to the goddess Hathor, the goddess of love and beauty and also to his favorite wife – Nefertary. The facade of greater temple is 33 meters high and 38 meters broad. There is a guarded by four statues, each of which is 20 meters high. They were sculpted directly from the rock. It was constructed for the pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC. Abu Simbel is the most magnificent monuments in the world. During the salvage operation in 1964-1968 the two temples were dismantled and raised around 6o meters up the sandstone cliff where they had been built more 3,000 years before.

4-Cairo : And of course, if you really want to immerse yourself in Egyptian culture, it would be best for you to go to the capital city, Cairo. The place is teeming with bazaars and restaurants where you can buy your taste of Egyptian culture. It’s surely not a place to miss.

5-Temples of Karnak : The temples at Karnak are one of the greatest architectural achievements besides the Pyramid. Located a few kilometers north of Luxor, it spreads on approximately 250 acres. This is the largest religious complex in the world. The construction continued over an elongated period of thousand years and was contributed by more than thirty Pharaoh. The temple of Amun is the centerpiece of the site which is surrounded by a multitude of giant columns, obelisk, pylons and many statues.

What better way to experience ancient Egypt than to visit the very place where they worshipped their gods. The Temples of Karnak is the biggest site for Egyptian worship. It has a monument to just about every god in the Theban religion.

6-The Nile River : And of course, you can’t miss out on the famous Nile River. It is, after all, what nourished Egypt and turned it into the place of wonder that it is. In fact, what’s great about visiting the Nile is that you can take a Felucca and sail down the legendary river, taking in the sights of the city and the sunset.

7-Valley of the Kings : The Valley of the Kings or Biban El Moluk is the place where Egypt’s most esteemed pharaohs were buried. This place is teeming with mummies and undiscovered treasures. In fact, this is the place where archeologists found one of the most famous mummies of all time – Tutankhamun.

8-Egyptian Museum : Of course, since it would be unwise to leave the Egyptian treasures in the tombs they were found in, the archeologists put them in the Egyptian museum where they would be put under high security. If you want to learn about Egypt, this is the best place to start. There’s no other place with a higher concentration of Egyptian artifacts, and you can even follow the tour so that you can be oriented with the history of each of the artifacts.

9-Siwa Oasis : Egypt isn’t all about temples and pyramids, there’s a place where you can just let loose and have fun – the Siwa Oasis. Here, you can take a swim in the cool waters to ward off the desert heat. It is rumored that Alexander stopped here during his great conquest.

10-Necropolis of Sakkarah : And indeed, you can’t miss something as intriguing as a ‘Necropolis’ or, if translated, a City of the Dead. Here, you will find the less popular pyramids of Egypt, the step pyramids. However, though they are less popular than the great pyramids, they’re still suffused with great history and culture.

Finding cheap flights to Egypt is not that easy, you need to do researching as well as planning ahead of time. Airfares are usually the most expensive part of a vacation trip, next to it would be hotel accommodations, this is why most of those who plan to visit the Egypt would surely want to go after those cheap flights to Egypt. Nevertheless, once you arrive in the country, most of the things you will find there have adequately cheap prices, like food, transportation, souvenir items, clothing stuffs, and other accessories you may want to buy, way much cheaper compared to buying the same things from other countries.

There are many specially trained professional Travel Agents will always help you to book a convenient flight to the Egypt and cheap flights Africa is one of them so just call them to book flights which will best suit your budget and travel needs.

By: cheapflightsafrica

About the Author:

Amar Mahallati asked:

Where Egypt meets Israel is the town of Taba, and it is where many visitors begin their exploration of the “Red Sea Riviera”. This is a region full of scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities within the protected waters of Egypt’s national parks. It is also the beginning of a long chain of wonderful resorts and hotels meant to house the many visitors who come to enjoy all that the area has to offer.

Taba vacations are a common event in the lives of many Egyptian and Israeli tourists. This is due to the location of the town being so convenient to residents of both countries as well as the hotels in Taba, some which even contain casinos.

Many Taba vacations are the result purely of an interest in the diving and snorkeling of the area, and while this region is not known for the vast coral gardens that are frequently seen farther south, the waters around Taba are home to unusually large numbers of fish and marine life that even shallow water snorkelers will be able to see and to enjoy.

In addition to swimming, diving and snorkeling those enjoying Taba vacations can also enjoy glass bottom boat rides which provide uninhibited views of the coral reefs and marine life of the Gulf of Aqaba. Visitors interested in more active water sports can try windsurfing, fishing, and sailing in the sheltered waters as well.

Many people on Taba vacations also hire camels for rides on the beaches and in the nearby canyons, while the more daring hire ATV or “quads” in order to explore this remarkable region. All visitors are reminded that Taba is known for the high temperatures along the beaches and in the canyons, and are constantly encouraged to use caution during the hottest parts of the day.

Only a few short decades ago, the entire Sinai Peninsula was a controversial location, which Egypt and Israel continually fought over, but the early 1980s saw a peace agreement, and Taba was the final location from which the Israelis withdrew. This means the hotels and resorts in the town are also among the newest available, with most earning a three-star rating or higher from professional organizations and guest reviews.

Taba vacations are quickly becoming as popular as those in the far southern regions of the Sinai Peninsula and Red Sea Riviera, and the excellence of the accommodations and wide variety of activities will only continue to increase the number of visitors heading to this exciting town.

Amar Mahallati asked:

It is unfortunate that more newlyweds don’t consider Egypt for their honeymoon. This is because the country provides some of the most romantic settings and locations in the entire world. Not only could honeymoon vacations in Egypt include starlit strolls along white sandy beaches, secluded hotels along the Mediterranean shore, camping in the desert or opulent accommodations in a wide range of locations, but they also include Egypt’s legendary hospitality as well.

There are many diverse regions in the country, though a majority of travelers automatically imagine the many historical sites set along the Nile River. While these alone would provide a great opportunity for anyone hoping to find unique honeymoon vacations in Egypt, there is also the “Red Sea Riviera”, the Western Desert and its many oases, the Sinai Peninsula with its mountain trekking or luxury resorts and scuba diving and the many cosmopolitan cities and towns visited by millions of travelers from around the world.

For example, some honeymoon vacations in Egypt take place in the vast Saharan Desert regions of western Egypt. Here travelers visit such ancient locations as Siwa, where Alexander the Great came to consult the oases’ ancient oracle and learn that he was the true king of all Egypt. They also visit the brilliant “White Desert” and the unearthly “Black Desert” with its volcanic cones and black stones covering miles and miles of the desert’s surface. Many of these journeys are in the company of historical experts or knowledgeable guides who will provide insightful tours and commentary on such an amazing collection of geographical wonders.

Of course it may be hard to beat a Nile cruise when considering honeymoon vacations in Egypt. Travelers could opt for a larger cruise ship or smaller felucca to carry them from the ancient capital city of Thebes, now known as Luxor, upriver to Aswan. Along the way are many remarkable sites and historical locations, and of course the romance of traveling on the open waters would create some long lasting memories.

For newlyweds hoping to just “get away” there are the many luxury resorts and all-inclusive options of the “Red Sea Riviera”. Stretching from the southeastern coast all the way around to the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, the region offers world-class scuba diving, shopping, dining and a vast range of accommodations options.

Clearly there are many ways to enjoy honeymoon vacations in Egypt, and such a trip would be a great way to begin a new life together.

Kim Chambers asked:

Everyone is familiar with the amazing temples at Luxor and the pyramids of Giza that have become synonyms for Egypt. Egypt has long been an attraction for explorers, couples who want to have a bit of mystery and culture lovers. Along the river Nile you can see the tombs and cast monuments dating back 6,000 years to civilisations then. Today this means tourists can enjoy a vibrant culture, miles of deserts, the jaw dropping pyramids while staying in comfortable modern hotels.

An Egyptian holiday is definitely a very special one, one that will stay with you for a long time and will stand out from the others. Where else can you explore ancient history with the pyramids of Giza, mummies and other ancient artefacts, taking in the breathtaking views as you are floating down the Nile or go diving in the clear blue sea to take in the amazing coral reefs. No other place offers this amazing experience. The hotels here are amazing; you will find only the best quality hotels with marble floors, beautifully decorated interiors, huge swimming pools and large rooms.

For the family there are aqua parks and dolphin parks which is entertainment for all the family as well as Jeep safaris available so you explore more of this beautiful country.

Once you’ve taken in these wonders you could head to Cairo, a bustling metropolis where local traders sell everything you can think of, you can buy local goods and hand made gifts or if you are happy to relax you can enjoy the comforts of an air-conditioned room, pool and nearby beach.

Egypt offers great diving locations, where you can practice and take the professional padi. Sharm El Sheikh which is situated on the Red Sea has one of the worlds best scuba locations and great braches to explore. The Egyptians are very friendly people on the whole and will welcome you with open arms to their country and encourage you to take a sample of their amazing country. Egypt holidays offer all year sunshine and only a five hour flight from London means the wonders of Egypt aren’t far away.

Millions of travelers visit Egypt each year, and some choose to stay in the urban areas of Cairo and Alexandria while others head to the glimmering waters of the Gulf of Suez along the “Red Sea Riviera”. All of these visitors need hotels in Egypt, and luckily there is an excellent variety of choices and styles from which to choose.

When choosing hotels in Egypt it is important to consider what is needed or wanted from the accommodation. For example, there are resort style hotels in Egypt that provide a comprehensive assortment of options – including meals, activities, transportation and entertainment. There are also very basic hotels in Egypt that can serve as safe and clean locations from which a visit to an area or region can be based.

It is also important to examine an entire area for the right hotels in Egypt before settling on a single location. For example, a family looking to stay somewhere along the Red Sea Riviera would need to consider the sort of activities they will require. Is shopping of interest? Meeting true locals or even Bedouin tribes? Will guided snorkeling or scuba diving be required? Such considerations will quickly help determine the areas where they should seek out hotels in Egypt.

Of course, hotels in Egypt are not limited to resort-style accommodations or luxury providers; there are many hostels and international chains that make very reasonable and affordable rooms, beds or suites available as well.

For example, in Cairo alone there are dozens of hotels and resorts providing a comprehensive selection of choices to those staying for a single night or an extended period in the area.

Hotels in Egypt are no different from those elsewhere, and a savvy traveler will investigate any special offerings or extra bonuses before booking a room. For instance, many hotels in Egypt can provide a discounted car rental or make special guided tours available to their paying guests. There are also some hotels in Egypt that are affiliated with Nile cruise or dinner cruise companies, and special rates can be found through “package” deals.

It is also important that a traveler seeking hotels in Egypt should not assume that every hotel or resort will be able to accommodate special needs, such as wheelchair accessibility. Just as in any other location in the world, it is critical to inquire of the management about such needs long before making a reservation in the hotel.

By: Amar Mahallati

About the Author:

Margaret Winfrey asked:

Imagine a luxury vacation in Egypt, from the Nile to the Pyramids, from Cairo to the Valley of the Kings; there can be few places on earth with a history and culture as rich, as diverse, as fascinating and as utterly mysterious as that of ancient Egypt. The fact that so much of Egypt’s long and richly patterned past is still very much in evidence today is testament to the extraordinary ingenuity, determination and passion of the peoples in whose dusty footsteps we can still walk today.

The trouble with Egypt as a vacation destination is that there is just so much to see and enjoy, with so many incredible wonders, that it can be very hard to know how to fit enough into your time to see as much of this country’s heritage as possible, without spending significant chunks of your time traveling between them. For this reason, it is highly advisable to spend a little extra and book yourself a qualified guide, who will be able to help maximize your time, and ensure that you spend as much of your precious holiday time as possible enjoying the many feasts on offer.

One of the main places you will undoubtedly wish to visit is the famous city of Cairo, the capital of Egypt, and the largest city in Africa. Known as either ‘the city that never sleeps’, or ‘the city of thousand minarets’ (a minaret being a tall column with an onion shaped dome or crown), Cairo has a wealth of history to offer, whilst at the same time offering a modern vibrancy. It is also permanent home of the celebrated Tutankhamun exhibition: the celebrated boy king whose tomb was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter and the infamous ‘curse of the mummies’ was born.

As well as being home to many celebrated galleries, and with the city divided into sections, including old Cairo and the Islamic borough, it is also home to two of the world’s most famous and easily recognized landmarks, quite apart from also being amongst the world’s oldest landmarks. These are, of course, the Sphinx and the Pyramids.

No holiday to Egypt could be considered complete without taking time to gaze into the eyes of the Sphinx, and gaze into thousands of years of history as you watch the sun rise above the huge, seemingly eternal pyramids.

Of course, although Cairo is home to several of these huge and mysterious structures, there are many more across the country. In fact, there are 138 known Egyptian pyramids in total, with the most famous of all being the Great Pyramid of Giza. This is the largest of them all, and at over 140 meters in height, it is hardly surprising that this structure took twenty years to complete. The pyramid at Giza was the tallest manmade structure in the world for 3,800 years – only being beaten by Lincoln Cathedral in the 16th century.

Another place which you must try to visit is Luxor, although this remarkable place is more like an open-air museum than a city. Here you will find museums, galleries, tombs, shrines, monuments and temples, all of which lead down to the River Nile alongside which the city grew up. In fact, the Nile divides the city into two, the Luxor of the east and that of the west, known as the City of the Living, and the City of the Dead respectively. This is in recognition of the sun rising on one side, and setting on the other. Even the name ‘Luxor’ is beautifully poetic in its charm – meaning ‘City of Palaces’.

Again, you will undoubtedly benefit from a guide, and possibly hired transport too, in order to appreciate the wealth of history, culture and mythology here, including the Colossi of Memnon, twin statues each 60 feet high, guarding the entrance to a temple now long gone to return to the sands from which it was born. After witnessing such triumphs, and appreciating the fine art and ingenuity displayed in the Luxor Temple, it will be time to journey on to witness another marvel of Egyptian legend – the Valley of the Kings.

The Valley of Kings, a World Heritage Site, is a monument to the legendary kings of Egypt from the period of the 16th to the 11th century BC. It was here that the rulers were buried, along with their treasures. It is astonishing, but because of the incredible scale of the area, more tombs are still being found, with three new tombs discovered since 2005. From simple tombs to labyrinthine mazes, the decorations, pictures, inscriptions and carvings make this an awe inspiring place to visit.

With one of the oldest cities in the world, Memphis, and Alexandria also nearby, a holiday in Egypt and Cairo will find you constantly astonished and awe struck. From the mighty river Nile, the life blood of Egypt, to the treasures of Cairo, this is a holiday which needs planning and organization, and if you can possibly find a good guide, your time, and your memories, will most certainly benefit.

Caffeinated Content – Members-Only Content for WordPress
