The Wonders of Egypt Holidays

Posted in Egypt on November 30th, 2010

Article by Kim Chambers

Everyone is familiar with the amazing temples at Luxor and the pyramids of Giza that have become synonyms for Egypt. Egypt has long been an attraction for explorers, couples who want to have a bit of mystery and culture lovers. Along the river Nile you can see the tombs and cast monuments dating back 6,000 years to civilisations then. Today this means tourists can enjoy a vibrant culture, miles of deserts, the jaw dropping pyramids while staying in comfortable modern hotels.

An Egyptian holiday is definitely a very special one, one that will stay with you for a long time and will stand out from the others. Where else can you explore ancient history with the pyramids of Giza, mummies and other ancient artefacts, taking in the breathtaking views as you are floating down the Nile or go diving in the clear blue sea to take in the amazing coral reefs. No other place offers this amazing experience. The hotels here are amazing; you will find only the best quality hotels with marble floors, beautifully decorated interiors, huge swimming pools and large rooms.

For the family there are aqua parks and dolphin parks which is entertainment for all the family as well as Jeep safaris available so you explore more of this beautiful country.

Once youve taken in these wonders you could head to Cairo, a bustling metropolis where local traders sell everything you can think of, you can buy local goods and hand made gifts or if you are happy to relax you can enjoy the comforts of an air-conditioned room, pool and nearby beach.

Egypt offers great diving locations, where you can practice and take the professional padi. Sharm El Sheikh which is situated on the Red Sea has one of the worlds best scuba locations and great braches to explore. The Egyptians are very friendly people on the whole and will welcome you with open arms to their country and encourage you to take a sample of their amazing country. Egypt holidays offer all year sunshine and only a five hour flight from London means the wonders of Egypt arent far away.

Bargain Holidays in Egypt

Article by Terrance Richardson

Egypt has never been a more affordable travel destination for the European traveller. The value of the Egyptian pound has decreased significantly in value compared to all of the major global currencies. The official nationally currency of Egypt is the Egyptian pound (E), or the Guinay as it is called locally. Each Egyptian pound is worth 100 piastres (pt). For a comparison of value, a pound in the United Kingdom (GBP) is worth more than eight times that of the Egyptian pound. This excellent exchange rate is only an added bonus to an already inexpensive country.

Egypt hotels are very reasonably priced. Cairo, for example, can be quite cheap if that is your aim, yet offers many of the luxuries of the UK. It is relatively easy to find a lovely hotel for under 50 per night, or you can spend a little more and be in the lap of luxury. Alternatively if you are on strict budget there are many respectable hotels for under 30 a night!

Food is also far from expensive. You can fill your refrigerator with fresh vegetables for less than 7, or enjoy some local falafel for 30 pence and even get an upscale Italian dinner for 20, including a liberal amount of South African wine.

In addition, transport is cheap with taxies to anywhere in the city for a couple of GBPs and a metro ride for barely 15 pence. Furthermore, the half-day train ride from Cairo to Luxor can be as little as 4 in second class. Even flying is a great deal-a domestic flight on Egypt air can be under 25.

In general, Egyptians are very hospitably to strangers by nature. Do not be surprised if the majority of the people you encounter greet you with a ‘salaam’ or ‘ahlan wa sahlan’ (hello/welcome). You may even be invited to have shai (tea) with some of the locals. Much of this friendliness, especially in more rural areas, is genuine; the food and drink offered are not efforts to pry open your wallet.

When considering beautiful, interesting, and affordable places to travel in the world, think about choosing Egypt as your destination, you will not be disappointed!
